International Porch Report: Dispatch From Aruba

While on vacation in Aruba, a Netherlands-owned island off the coast of Venezuela, we noticed something interesting about the front porches there. Many of them have a ceramic or plaster screen of sorts with openings for ventilation.

The effect is both lacy and solid, presumably to block the hot, arid sunlight but allow for air circulation.

Fascinating! Have you seen any interesting porches during your international travels? Please send your photos to We’re all one. We’re all in this thing (life on earth) together. Thanks in advance.
